About us

The Oceans Alive team collectively has over 60 years of experience in community-based management of marine resources in East Africa. We share our knowledge with coastal fishing communities to:

  • safeguard biodiversity

  • ensure the sustainability of marine ecosystems

  • protect fisheries and coral reefs

Collaborative Management Approach

We are in a unique position to share our approach in Locally Managed Marine Areas (LMMA’s) and co-managed areas (CMA's).

Community Conservation

We have seen the value and deep impact of peer-to-peer exchange. This is one of the approaches we use to empower and strengthen coastal communities to:

  • overcome adverse effects of climate change

  • restore the environment

  • improve depleted fish stocks

  • minimize the impact of development projects

  • create resilience for other unforeseen occurrences such as COVID 19
